Main Campus Course Sequence

Below is a list of planned M.A. course offerings on ASU's main campus for upcoming semesters. Our purpose is to ensure that a Master's degree can be accomplished by a full-time student within a two-year time frame. If you are a part-time student, please consult regularly with your advisor to ensure that you are making the best selection of classes each term.

All on-campus students should complete the Personal Course Schedule Form (DOCX, 19 KB) prior to registering for courses for their first semester and should submit the form to their advisor for approval. Any changes made to the plan afterward should be in consultation with the advisor. Here are some guiding principles to keep in mind as you make your schedule:

  • HE 5635, Adult Development and Learning Theories, should be taken before HE 5440 College and University Teaching.
  • HE 5440, College and University Teaching, should be taken by students in the Teaching concentration the semester before they take their internship (HE 6900 Higher Education Internship/Field Study).
  • The internship (HE 6900, Higher Education Internship/Field Study) should be taken towards the end of the program, ideally in the last semester. For more information about the internship, click here.
  • RES 5000, Research Methods, can be taken any term, including summers.
